History
In July of 1942, eighty-nine residents filed a petition in the court of Common Pleas for incorportation of a fire company known as the East Lawn Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. On August 3rd, 1942, the petition was granted and property was secured off East Lawn Road for a firehouse. The first Fire Truck in the Station was a 1917 La France Pumper.
Today, the Township has grown as well as our Fire Department. Our name has changed to Upper Nazareth Fire Department, Inc. To ensure that our residents know we are serving all of Upper Nazareth Township.
We have increased our equipment to meet the demands of the Township, from one Pumper to a 2014 Spartan ERV Transformer Engine, 2005 Smeal Pumper/Rescue, 1998 Freightliner Pumper/Tanker, 1985 Pierce Brush Truck, 1986 Ford E-350 Fire Police Vehicle, 2008 Ford F-350 Utility Truck, and a 2003 Surrey Fire Safety Trailer for Fire Prevention.
We currently have 50 active members, encompassing Firefighters, Junior Firefighters and Fire Police. Any interested resident is Welcome to join and help out, whether it is for the above or just to be a supporting member, helping out in everyday events. We meet every monday night at 6:30pm.
